French finance minister Michel Sapin has announced the French government appointed senior treasury official Anthony Requin as chief executive officer of Agence France Tresor, which manages French government debt and treasury.

He will replace Ambroise Fayolle, CEO since March 2013, who became vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in February. Requin spent most of his career at Agence France Tresor.

“His (Requin’s) knowledge of the financial markets and relations he has built with international actors and decision-makers will be important assets in his mission at the head of Agence France Tresor,” Sapin was quoted in Reuters.
