French government to launch SRI label

Ahead of the SRI Week in France, French Finance minister Michel Sapin has announced that an SRI label backed by French public authorities will soon be launched.

It aims to highlight the credibility of funds applying ESG criteria. A committee will be gathered by the end of the year in order to assess the methodology.

The French parliament’s president Claude Bartolone said that the label should make Paris the reference for useful finance.

This announcement follows the creation of another French label, Transition énergétique et climat, that allows French savers to finance the energy transition by choosing funds that only focus on green economy. The label is set to be launched in November.
