La Financière de l’Echiquier names business development head

Paris-based asset manager La Financière de l’Echiquier (LFDE) has appointed Jean-François Bay as head of Strategy, Business Development and International, effective 15 May 2017.

Bay will sit within the firm’s board committee and will report to Didier Le Menestrel, chairman and CEO of LFDE.

He will be responsible for building a strategic plan aiming to strengthen LFDE’s presence towards various client segments in France and outside the country.

Bay will head a team of around 30 people of which ten will focus on developing business outside France.

The appointment follows the departure of LFDE’s former CEO Dominique Carrel-Billiard in November 2016 who had had responsibilities for developing LFDE.

Bay is currently CEO of Morningstar France. In 2002, he founded Seeds Finance and MultiRatings which was further acquired by Morningstar.

Prior to that, Bay held a number of sales roles with OFI AM, Invesco and ADI Gestion.

Launched in 1991, LFDE has €8bn of assets under management.
