Dominique Carrel-Billiard, CEO of French private asset management company La Financière de l’Echiquier has said the Paris based firm has development plans “in an other continental European country”, targeting private investors.

“Things should move within the 24 coming months”, Carrel-Billiard declared to Reuters.

Established in 1991, La Financière de l’Echiquier, which has offices in Italy and Germany, is managing €8.2bn of assets of which three quarters comes from France and the rest from abroad. Private investors represent 70% of its managed assets.

Marc Craquelin, chief investment officer at La Financière de l’Echiquier added: “We have put more means on foreign countries than before.”

Carrel-Billiard also mentioned that if “La Financière de l’Echiquier has a vocation to be a player in the sector’s consolidation, no such plans are considered for the moment,” saying that the asset manager’s project was “a plan of organic growth.”

“If there are opportunities for external growth, we will go for it but our plan is not based on external growth. We must grow in managing our internal development and working on our funds,” said Carrel-Billiard.

Asked about market forecasts, Craquelin expects “good surprises from European markets.”

“This year will be very volatile, with much complexity in the eurozone. The European market can grow without the United States but we will not avoid a decrease if there is a real huge consolidation in the United States,” he added.
