La Française AM seeds boutique asset manager
Multi-specialist French asset management group La Française AM has signed a partnership agreement with a new boutique asset management company, Swell AM.
Swell AM is to be headed by Olivier Ramé (pictuerd), former head of alternative investment at La Française des Placements. La Française des Placements became part of La Française AM (previously named UFG-LCP) in July 2009.
Ramé decided to leave La Française des Placements to pursue a more entrepreneurial career and initiate this project. His new company will begin by running two Ucits IV compliant funds, subject to regulatory approval.
Ramé will be joined by Jean-Philippe Collin, a former colleague and asset manager at La Française des Placements.
According to Xavier Lépine, chairman of La Française AM’s board of directors, “Swell AM’s venture focusing on tactical asset allocation is pertinent for us, and more importantly we have seen the quality of Ramé and Collin’s work over the course of several years. This is why we agreed to work with them on this project by proposing a partnership deal,” he said.
La Française AM offers a range of services including securities management and real estate funds. Its clients are institutions, private banks, advisors and individuals in France and abroad. It currently manages €35bn of assets.
