EOS Venture, a French crowdfunding platform specialist, has become the first to be licensed as an investment services provider by the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), the French prudential authority that is part of the Banque de France.

EOS Venture runs an online crowdfunding platform that aims to financing projects for small and medium-sized enterprises that are not listed on any stock exchange, such as startups.

The ACPR’s license insures that investments on the platform are made with regard to regulations around investor security. It also gives EOS Venture the right to raise funds of more than €1m, to disclose information concerning fundraising campaigns and to operate in Europe.

EOS Venture was founded in 2012 and is based in Paris.

The firm will soon launch its own crowdfunding platform for retail investors.
