Muzinich & Co, a global institutional asset manager specialised in corporate credit, has appointed Sophie Catala as managing partner in its private debt team in Paris led by Sandrine Richard.

Eric Pictet (pictured), managing director of the Muzinich & Co Paris office, commented : “Muzinich & Co accompanies the current banking disintermediation in Europe into developing a specific approach through the launch of local private debt funds with its local teams. Two funds have been already launched in Europe in 2014. The first one has been invested in Italian companies for an amount of €156m and the second invested in Spanish and Portuguese firms for €80m. Other local funds including one investing in the French speaking areas in Europe are being prepared.”

Catala added “the French fund will be financing French small and middle-cap companies.”

Before joining Muzinich & Co, Catala was associate at Oddo Corporate Finance where she worked in the debt capital markets team, specialised in fundraising and financial advisory for French speaking medium-sized enterprises.
