New commercial head at Societe Generale Private Banking
Societe Generale Private Banking has appointed Nicolas Nicolau as head of commercial and marketing and a member of the private bank’s Executive Committee.
Nicolau will report to Jean-François Mazaud and Patrick Folléa, head and deputy head of Societe Generale Private Banking respectively.
Nicolau will be responsible for defining and implementing the private bank’s commercial strategy, in coordination with the executive committee, supervising the marketing and commercial activities domestically and abroad.
From January 2011, Nicolau was deputy global head of market solutions for Societe Generale Private Banking, with responsibility for managing market activities (fixed income, foreign exchange, equity and bonds) and developing and promoting the structured products and derivatives offering.
Nicolau began his career in 1995 at Societe Generale, first as an options trader and then options desk manager.
After a stint at other financial institutions, he returned to the group in 2003 joining the structured products desk of Societe Generale Bank & Trust in Luxembourg as deputy head of sales, covering France and the UK.
He was appointed deputy global head of market solutions in January 2011.
This is the third major appointment at Societe Generale since January. Jean-François Mazaud was recently made head of Societe Generale Private Banking, replacing Daniel Truchi. Societe Generale Securities services appointed Dirk Werthmann from BNY Mellon SA/NV in Frankfurt as senior relationship manager for Germany.
