Oddo AM sees opportunities in Italy’s institutional market
New opportunies of specific investment solutions for Italian institutional clients might follow the launch of a taylor made fund of funds for Banca Generali, according to French asset manager Oddo AM.
Bertrand Levavasseur (pictured), head of international development at the firm, told Investment Europe that similar initiatives might follow in the convertible or credit area.
A few days ago, Oddo unveiled Oddo Expertise Europe, a European equity fund managed by the firm’s asset allocation team for Banca Generali. The investment portfolio includes growth and value blend management styles, as well as a stock picking approach.
“We definitely expect a good demand. Flows into and allocations to European equities are generally increasing also in Italy. Among the 40 subfunds of BG SELECTION SICAV there are now only 2 european equities subfunds and we offer an attrattive and active investment solution to BG’s IFA network,” Levavasseur added.
According to the manager, Italian investors are still cautious in the current market but with an improving “uropean sovereign situation appetite for risk seem to be increasing.
“When speaking to clients we perceive more constructive stance toward equity investments, especially european equities where valuations are at a discount versus other major world’s market,” he said.
Together with Switzerland and Germany, Italy is a key development market for the French firm.” Our observation is that Italian investors have a a very long and sophisticated investment experience.
The market is one of the largest private savings reserve in Europe it is open and competitive,” Levavasseur added.
A full interview with Levavasseur will be published in the next issue of the magazine.
