Ostrum AM appoints equity CIO

Former Barings Asset Management’s equity chief Jean-Louis Scandella has joined Ostrum Asset Management (formerly Natixis AM) as equity chief investment officer, effective 3 April 2018.

Scandella will be responsible for bolstering European and emerging market equity capabilities, as well as repositioning the expertise range to deliver the highest possible investment outcomes for clients.

He will oversee equity portfolio management teams based in Paris and Singapore, tallying 27 professionals and managing over €23.6bn as of end 2017.

Scandella will report to Ibrahima Kobar, deputy CEO, chief investment officer and member of the Ostrum Asset Management executive committee.

Prior to his tenure at Barings, he served as emerging markets portfolio manager at Comgest and spent 14 years within Société Générale group, having notably developed the bank’s European emerging markets activity in London.

Ostrum AM, affiliated to Natixis Investment Managers, had €324.5bn of assets under management as of 31 December 2017.
