Calastone promotes internally for European sales head (pictured), Amundi alternatives announces replacement CEO, East Capital changes Paris office leadership, emerging markets manager joins Midmar Capital European absolute return fund, Vestra hires due diligence head for hedge fund advisory, Abu Dhabi private bank recruits head from HSBC.


An internal candidate has been selected at mutual fund transaction provider Calastone to lead its sales and product development in the UK and Ireland.

Dan Llewellyn became managing director of European business development, taking on responsibility for sales, account management, business analysis, product development and market innovation.

Previously the firm’s director of market innovation, he worked on the launch of its mutual fund settlement system and reconciliation service.

Amundi Alternative Investments

Amundi has chosen Laurent Guillet to succeed Andrew Watson as head of its alternatives business.

Guillet, currently deputy CEO of Amundi Alternative Investments, took over on 1 April following Watson’s retirement on 31 March.

Guillet first joined Amundi’s investment solutions business in April 2007 to work on its managed account platform.

Previously, he was head of equity and fund derivatives sales for Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa in the capital markets division at Calyon. Prior to that, he headed sales and equity derivatives for France, Benelux and Switzerland at Crédit Agricole Cheuvreux.

East Capital

East Capital is changing the leadership of its Paris office with the promotion of Olle Olsson.

Formerly head of business development and sales for France, Olsson will assume the position from Jean-Marie Laporte on 1 June 2011.

Laporte meanwhile becomes senior adviser for East Capital Group, an asset manager that specialises in investment in emerging markets in Eastern Europe and China, with headquarters in Stockholm.

Midmar Capital

Dariusz Sliwinski has left Martin Currie Investment Ltd to join the Merrion European Absolute Return Fund team at Midmar Capital LLP.

At Martin Currie, he was head of global emerging markets. In his new role, he will contribute to stock selection for the Merrion European Absolute Return Fund and look for further opportunities in emerging European equities.

Sliwinski joins fund managers Michael Nicol and Alistair MacDonald at Midmar.
