Record outflows from Livret A in September

Huge outflows of €2.38bn from French public savings accounts Livret A have been recorded in September 2015 according to figures published by the Caisse des Dépôts et des Consignations (CDC).

It makes the highest amount of outflows seen by the CDC since the beginning of the year.

Outflows on Livret A for the nine first months of 2015 have reached €6.21bn.

Last August’s decision of the French government to trim Livret A’s rate from 1% to 0.75% can be one possible explanation of such outflows.

Livret A’s assets managed by the CDC reached €256.8bn as at 30 September 2015.
