Unigestion names French AM ambassador as board chairman France

Swiss asset manager Unigestion has appointed Jean-Louis Laurens (pictured) as chairman of the board of Unigestion Asset Management France (UAMF), already effective and subject to French financial market regulator’s approval.

Laurens succeeds Gérard Pfauwadel who has been chairman and CEO of UAMF for the past 13 years.

As Unigestion has opted to separate the functions of chairman of the board and chief executive officer, Thomas du Pasquier has been appointed CEO of UAMF.

Laurens is the ambassador of the French asset management industry, a mission he was appointed for by the French asset management association AFG in 2015.

InvestmentEurope has been told that Laurens will continue to perform his mission for AFG until November 2017, at least.

Prior to this, Laurens has been CEO, global head of Asset Management and managing partner of Rothschild & Cie Gestion and held various management positions at Robeco and AXA IM where he notably served as deputy CEO.

Du Pasquier has been working with Unigestion for nine years and was hitherto deputy CEO of UAMF and responsible for institutional clients.

Unigestion’s chairman Bernard Sabrier said that the appointments were a new step in the growth and presence of Unigestion in the French market.

Unigestion has almost $23bn (€20.2bn) of assets under management.
