Franklin Templeton’s veteran equity PM to retire
Philippe Brugere-Trelat, a veteran international equity portfolio manager from Franklin Templeton Investments, has announced he is to retire from the firm in May 2018.
Brugere-Trelat (pictured), who has been working at the firm for over 20 years, is currently the co-portfolio manager of three funds: the Franklin Mutual Global Discovery fund, the Franklin Mutual European fund. In addition to those responsibilities, Brugere-Trelat is also the vice president of Franklin Mutual Series and a research analyst at the firm.
Brugere-Trelat, who has over 30 years’ experience in the European equity markets, joined Franklin Mutual Series in 1984 -where he spent more than 10 years following European investments for the funds.
Prior to rejoining Franklin Mutual Series in 2004, he worked as president and portfolio manager at Eurovest (a French registered fund invested in European equity markets). Formerly, he worked at Omega Advisors Inc, also responsible for European equity markets at the New York-based hedge fund.
The company announced it will make several appointments at the beginning of 2018 in order to replace Brugere-Trelat’s management role on the three funds.
Christian Correa, director of research and portfolio manager for Franklin Mutual Series, will join the Franklin Mutual Global Discovery fund as a co-lead portfolio manager. He will join the team led by Brugere-Trelat (current portfolio manager) alongside co-lead portfolio managers Peter Langerman and Timothy Rankin.
Portfolio manager and research analyst Mandana Hormozi will be appointed as a co-lead portfolio manager of the Franklin Mutual European fund, to work alongside portfolio managers Katrina Dudley and Brugere-Trelat.
The third appointment announced, Timothy Rankin, will be added as a co-lead portfolio manager of the Franklin Mutual International fund, and will join the team currently formed by co-lead portfolio manager Andrew Sleeman and portfolio manager Brugere-Trelat.
