Asset manager steps down from GAM
Enrico Camera has left GAM, as the Swiss group has promoted two team members to replace the asset manager.
Camera, who was manager of GAM Talentum Emerging Long/Short and GAM Star (Lux) Emerging Alpha, exited GAM to take a break from asset management, a spokesperson for GAM told InvestmentEurope.
He stepped down from active portfolio management at the end of June.
“William Mejia and Aldo Meroni, who have been working alongside Enrico since 2014 and 2011 respectively as co-managers of the emerging market long/short strategies, are taking over full responsibility for the investment management of the portfolios,” the spokesperson said.
Camera had been with GAM in Lugano since 2012 after the acquisition of Arkos Investments.
Prior to joining Arkos in February 2007, Camera was a fund manager at Banca Arner, and previously, he was head of Global Emerging Markets and portfolio manager at Aureo Gestioni SGR.
He started his career at Epta Fund in Italy, as part of the institutional client sales team. He holds a BSc in conomics from Verona University, Italy, and is a CFA charterholder.
Last week, GAM announced the appointment of Tim Rainsford, previously co-head of Sales and Marketing at London-based hedge fund Man Group as its new Group head of Sales as of January 2017.
