German Association of Institutional Investors founded

Germany Association of Institutional Investors (bii) was founded in Frankfurt on 18 May 2018. The seven corporate founding members are Aquila Capital, GSK Luxembourg, Hauck & Aufhäuser, Pensions-Akademie, Simmons & Simmons, Spudy Family Office and TH Real Estate/Nuveen.

The bii will promote professionalization of institutional investments in Germany through the exchange of its members among themselves as well as with legislators, supervisors and friendly associations. This takes place in addition to organised discussions, e.g. via congresses, scientific symposia and studies. Another area of focus is the international exchange of ideas with institutional investors from other countries. The result of these efforts should be, on the one hand, even more professional investments per se – which should also show up in the wallets of workers, salaried employees and pensioners as recipients of benefits.

Thomas A. Jesch was elected as managing board member. Benedikt Weiser will be his deputy and at the same time responsible for Legal & Regulatory. Michael Klauke-Werner and Ludger Wibbeke are responsible for Institutional Distribution and Asset Servicing respectively.

In summer of 2018, bii will initially set up its working groups in order to be fully operational from autumn onwards.
