Axa makes key hire for German-speaking Europe from Lombard
Axa Investment Managers has appointed Uwe Diehl from private bankers Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie as its head of wholesale and retail distribution for Germany and Austria, replacing Bernhard Klocke, who has relinquished the duty after seven years.
At Lombard he was country head for Germany.
Diehl began his career in the retail arena as an independent financial advisor with Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG, before moving to DWS Investments as a key account manager for European banks, German private banks and asset managers.
After this, he was head of distribution in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for Henderson Global Investors
Stephan Heitz, managing director and head of northern Europe for AXA Investment Managers Deutschland, said: “We could hire a very experienced financial expert and distribution professional by hiring Uwe Diehl, who will drive the business of wholesale and retail distribution in Germany and Austria further.”
Axa has a strong franchise in Europe, ranking twenty-second on the basis of net sales in 2010, according to Lipper.
Europeans put a fresh €3.5bn into their 411 products in total last year, the data providers said.
Its FIIS US Short Duration High Yield fund was the twenty-third most popular fund on the Continent last year.
