Berenberg appoints AM chief strategist

German private bank Berenberg has expanded its wealth and asset management team with the hire of Bernd Meyer.

Meyer, currently head of Global Cross Asset Strategy Research at Commerzbank, will take up his new duties as from 1 October 2017.

In his role, Meyer will determine Berenberg’s capital market opinion, develop multi-asset solutions and head up multi-asset portfolio management including asset management activities.

This appointment follows those of Matthias Born and Peter Kraus who will join from Allianz Global Investors and will start working for the wealth and asset management division of the private bank as well on 1 October.

Prior to his tenure at Commerzbank, Meyer has been head of European Equity Strategy in 2010 at Deutsche Bank in London, having started his career within Deutsche Bank group.

“With Bernd Meyer, we are delighted to have hired an internationally respected expert for equity and asset allocation. Not only does he have 20 years of professional experience as a market strategist, he has also been involved in empirical capital market research for more than 25 years,” said Henning Gebhardt, head of Wealth and Asset Management at Berenberg.
