BlackRock has now announced the appointment of Christian Staub as country head Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Based in London, Staub will be reporting to David Blumer, BlackRock’s head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

“I am convinced that the changes in the local asset management industry offer excellent opportunities, BlackRock can make use of these due to its global backround and its strong presence on the ground” Staub said.

The regions were previously covered by two country heads, Dirk Klee and Martin Gut, both left in December 2013. Klee was country head Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe, while Gut has been in charge of Switzerland.

As a result of the appointment, the management of BlackRock’s activities in the area will be merged into one role. “Germany and Switzerland are BlackRock’s key markets in Europe..this is an excellent opportunity to pool the management of the region” stresses Blumer.

Staub joins Blacrock from Pimco, where he has been in charge of setting up Pimco’s presence in Switzerland. He has previously worked for Pimco’s institutional business in the US.
