BNY Mellon reshuffles Frankfurt office, hires from Barings

BNY Mellon’s has made four senior appointments in its Frankfurt office, promoting three existing employees and hiring Laura Ahto from Barings Asset Management in London.

Ahto will head up asset servicing operations and service delivery. She replaces Michelle Grundmann, who is leaving the company. According to Germany’s news source Das Investment, Grundmann is moving to competitor J. P. Morgan.

At Barings, Ahto held the post of deputy chief operating office. She will assume her new position in October.

Apart from that, the firm has reshuffled some existing senior positions in the Frankfurt office. Thomas Brand, who has been with the company since 1999, has been appointed head of investment services for Germany.

He will be responsible for relationship management and business development in the areas of asset servicing, broker-dealer advisory and issuer services in Germany, Switzerland and Central and South Eastern Europe.

Jürgen Frank has assumed the position of chairman of the supervisory board of the Kapitalanlagegesellschaft (investment management) business. He will also remain spokesman for the Frankfurt office and head of integration for the asset servicing business in Germany.

Lastly, Christian Altmeyer has been appointed branch manager for the bank in the region. He will be responsible for legal and regulatory affairs, internal audit and risk and compliance.
