Deutsche Boerse appoints new CEO

After 17 years on the executive board of Deutsche Boerse, CEO Reto Francioni  will hand over his tasks to Carsten Kengeter as of June 2015, Andreas Preuss remains deputy CEO.

Joachim Faber, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, stated: „We are very pleased that on the one hand we were able to identify, in a concerted, discrete and diligent process, such an experienced and qualified successor for the longstanding CEO of Deutsche Börse AG as Mr Carsten Kengeter, and that, on the other hand, we will enable a smooth transition. We are very grateful to Reto Francioni for his full support in this very important generational change at Deutsche Börse.”

Carsten Kengeter will join as a member of the executive board in April 2015 at the latest and will take over the position of CEO effective 1 June 2015 after the Annual General Meeting 2015.

Kengeter joins Deutsche Boerse from UBS, where he most  recently worked as chairman and CEO of the Investment Bank. He has also spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs, where he worked in the pensions, currencies and commodities department.
