According to the latest ifo barometer on the labour market climate in Germany, the willingness to recruit has improved, despite overall worsening economic expectations.

The ifo employment barometer measures German firms willingness to recruit within the next three months on a monthly basis among more than 9000 businesses.

The latest figures reveal a slight increase to 107.0 index points compared to 106.0 the previous month. This improvement comes despite the ifo business climate index declining to 106.0 points from 108.0 points the previous month.

According to the ifo, driving force behind the improvements is German service sector growth as well as the domestic construction industry, while more export-oriented sectors such as wholesale and manufacturing continue to be hit by the crisis in the Ukraine.
