Pioneer sets sights on German institutions

Pioneer Investments, the asset management arm of Italian bank UniCredit, has poached key personnel from Invesco and BNP Paribas Investment Partners in order to boost its sales efforts in Germany.

Pioneer has expanded its sales team in Germany to attract investment from corporations, pension funds and insurance companies in the region.

Oliver Bilal (pictured), managing director responsible for institutional and wholesale sales at Pioneer Investments (Germany), confirmed that Pioneer hopes to expand its institutional client base in Germany over the coming years.

According to Evi Vogl, chief executive of Pioneer Investments (Germany), the region is “one of our key markets globally.”

Markus Becker, Tobias Löschmann, and Holger Schäfer joined Pioneer’s institutional sales team as senior directors in Germany on October 1.

Becker joins from Invesco Asset Management where he was director of institutional business. He will focus on clients from the insurance industry.

Löschmann and Schäfer have both joined Pioneer from BNP Paribas Investment Partners. They will be responsible for the sales business with corporations and corporate pension funds.
