Henderson hires equities manager for Edinburgh office

Henderson Global Investors has hired Stephen Deane from Stewart Investors to senior portfolio manager working alongside its head of emerging market equities Glen Finegan and the broader emerging markets equities team.

Deane will be based in Edinburgh. He previously spent more than five years at Stewart Investors – previously known as First State Stewart – as an analys and co-manager of  the manager’s Worldwide Equity funds.

Before that, he was at Accenture for 13 years and completed an Executive Masters in Business Administration at Insead in France.

Finegan, who worked with Deane at First State, said: “We share a similar investment philosophy and Stephen’s disciplined approach will be of great benefit to our clients. Stephen’s hire evidences Henderson’s continued commitment to the emerging markets equities asset class and signals the further strengthening of Henderson’s franchise working out of Edinburgh. We are certain Stephen’s global insights will be invaluable going forward.”

The Edinburgh office is also being boosted by the promotion of Michael Cahoon from analyst to portfolio manager, Henderson announced. He has been named co-manager on the Emerging Markets Fund, a US mutual fund. And Nicholas Cowley has been named co-manager on the Henderson Gartmore Emerging Markets Fund.
