Bank of Italy, Panetta appoined deputy director
The Bank of Italy has appointed Fabio Panetta as deputy director general.
Panetta has worked at the Bank of Italy since 1985, where he held a number of roles.
He has headed the bank’s Center for the Study of the Economic Situation and Monetary Policy from 2007 to 2011.
Since 2010, he has been in charge of Bankitalia’s Report on Financial Stability and during his career he specifically focused on Bankitalia’s participation in the Euro system.
The current governor of the bank is Ignazio Visco, who replaced Mario Draghi in 2011.
