BNP acquires Anima’s fund accounting business

BNP Paribas Securities Services has announced the acquisition of the fund accounting business of Italian independent asset management company Anima Sgr.

The deal will consolidate BNP’s presence on the Italian market, according to a statement released today.

Anima Sgr was created at the end of 2011 from a merger with rival fund manager Prima Sgr, which created one of the largest asset managers in Italy.

Alessandro Gioffreda, managing director at BNP Paribas Securities Services, said the acquisition will increase the number of funds to which BNP offers fund accounting services.

Marco Carreri, managing director at Anima, said: ”This change will allow us to focus on our strategic activities and to develop strong relationships with our distribution network, offering investment solutions to more than one million Italian families.”
