Brussels-based asset manager Petercam starts up in Milan
Brussels-based independent asset manager Petercam is set to open an office in Milan to target professional investors and institutional clients in the market.
The company has appointed Alessandro Fonzi to head Italy’s operations.
Currently based between Brussels and Milan, the manager will relocate to Italy when the office will receive complete regulatory approval, Fonzi told Investment Europe.
“Despite the eurozone crisis, Italy remains a key market for the European asset management industry, both on the institutional and on the retail side. We have targeted the market because we are confident we have the right investment solutions for local clients, whether professional portfolio managers, fund distributors and institutional clients,” he said.
Petercam will offer to Italian clients a number of investment solutions in its key areas of expertise: European and global equities, European and global fixed income and sustainable and responsible investment.
Fonzi joined from Lombard Odier, where he was head of institutional clients.
He developed a specific expertise in asset management start-ups, as he was in charge of both Lombard Odier and Fidelity Investments’ launch in Italy.
In Europe, Petercam already has offices in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Luxembourg and Germany.
Founded in Brussels in 1968, the firm has about €13.2bn assets under management.
