Italian industrial production up by 0.3%
Italy’s industrial production index seasonally adjusted increased by 0.3% compared with the previous month in August, the Italian national institute of statistics (Istat) has revealed.
The calendar adjusted industrial production index decreased by 0.7% compared with August 2013 (calendar working days in August 2014 being 20 versus 21 days in August 2013); in the period January-August 2014 the percentage change was -0.1 compared with the same period of 2013.
The unadjusted index of industrial production decreased by 3.7% compared with August 2013.
However, economists had said a 0.5% increase would have been necessary to help pull Italy out of recession.
