Italian private equity firm Synergo targets Turkish market

Italian private equity firm Synergo Sgr has launched a fund focused on investment opportunities in Turkey.

The fund will be managed by a local team, and will finance Turkish companies. Hakan and Gokhan Baykam, members of a family of Turkish entrepreneurs, have signed a deal with Synergo and will take part in the new initiative.

Each entrepreneurial project will be supported with a €20m to €80m investment, Paolo Zapparoli, chief executive at Synergo confirmed.

Synergo SGR manages three private equity funds, with total assets under management of €1bn.

Over the last years, Zapparoli’s funds have invested in several mid-market Italian companies, including Redecam, Waste Italia, Ducati, Cartonplast, Valvitalia and Motovario.

“We are proud to be the first Italian private equity fund to adopt this international strategy. With this deal, Synergo is looking to become a 360 degrees player, able to support companies and entrepreneurs in domestic and foreign markets,” Zapparoli said.
