Italy’s Banca Monte Paschi di Siena builds up new management team

Fabrizio Viola, chief executive, and Alessandro Profumo, chairman, of Italian bank Banca Monte Paschi di Siena (MPS), have unveiled a new top management team.

Bernardo Mingrone is the new chief financial officer at the bank, taking over Marco Massacesi.

Meanwhile, Ilaria Dalla Riva has been appointed head of human resources, while Sergio Vicinanza will head the finance and treasury department.

The new roles have been suggested during the bank’s shareholders meeting.

Mingrone is currently chief financial officer and head of strategy at Pioneer Global Asset Management and has previously worked at Unicredit, JP Morgan, Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers.

Following the hires, Massacesi will become chief risk officer and head of compliance and legal.

The top management of the Italian bank was recently reshuffled with the appointment of Profumo, UniCredit’s chief executive until 2010, on April 27.

Viola joined Banca Monte dei Paschi as general manager in January 2012, and was appointed chief executive on May 3.
