Mediobanca expands open-ended funds range

Italy’s asset manager Mediobanca SGR has recently launched three open-ended funds available to investors through the group’s advisory network of 230 advisers or through the bank’s 107 branches.

Mediobanca Global Multiasset, launched in April 2018, invests in all asset classes globally. The fund’s portfolio is based on the group’s disciplined and dynamic asset allocation process known as the Multi Asset Active Portfolio Strategy (Maaps).

Mediobanca Long Short Sector Rotation is distinctive for its market-neutral approach and implements a strategy which is decoupled from the market, to create value specifically from market stress phases. The fund’s portfolio is based on the MAAPS asset allocation process too, allowing the fund manager to build a strategy that leverages on the different sector performances in the different market and economic cycle phases.

Mediobanca Defensive Portfolio invests equity in bond and/or cash instruments, paying special attention to risk. The fund’s management style allows the composition of the portfolio to be adapted to the macroeconomic scenario and interest rate expectations. The fund also allows an efficient and defensive bond asset class portfolio to be constructed, with a low risk level and medium period time horizon.

Investing in any geographical area with a special focus on non-emerging markets, Mediobanca Defensive Portfolio may also invest in bank deposits and derivatives.

Emilio Franco, CEO of Mediobanca SGR, said: “Our objective is to create a hub of excellence in asset management and wealth management for all Mediobanca Group companies, releasing products and contents as part of a wide-ranging activity comprising macro advisory, scenario, model portfolio production and support and guidance in the open architecture universe.

“The three new strategies, devised in response to the needs of CheBanca! customers, are the result of the Group’s investment in new professional capabilities added to our team since the start of the year, which has helped to strengthen our offering in terms of both strategies and performances”.
