Romito quits Italy’s MPS after 20-year career

Nicola Romito (pictured), deputy general manager of Italian bank Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) has left the group after almost 20 years, the bank has confirmed.

Romito joined the MPS in 1994 as chief investment officer of Ducato Gestioni, and since 2006 was also in charge of private commercial banking.

Over the years within the group he has also served as chief executive of MPS
Asset Management SGR and as chairman of MPS Alternative Investment SGR and of MPS Asset Management Ireland.

His plans for the future are not known yet.

His departure follows the recent appointment of Fabrizio Viola as chairman of the bank, and of Alessandro Profumo as chief executive.
