Salvatori appointed chairman at Allianz Italy
Carlo Salvatori has been appointed chairman at Allianz Spa. He takes over Giuseppe Vita, who was appointed chairman at UniCredit on May 11.
Salvatori is well known in the Italian banking industry, having held a number of senior roles. Among others, he has served as chairman at UniCredit, deputy chairman at Mediobanca and chief executive at Intesa.
He has also served as chairman at Lazard Italia and at Creditras Vita, the insurance and banking company in which Allianz Group and UniCredit have shares.
Meanwhile, the company’s board has confirmed George Sartorel (pictured) as chief executive and appointed Dieter Wemmer and Giovanni Gabrielli as deputy chairman and Michael Diekmann, Gianfelice Rocca, Carlo Secchi and Jorg Weber as directors.
