Julius Baer launches Catholic values fund

Julius Baer Gestión has launched in the Spanish market a fund based on ethics guidelines of the Catholic Church .

The fund, called Temperantia, was registered with the Spanish regulator CNMV on 20 May and will invest in companies covered by MSCI ESG Research, which meet the ethical ideals of the Catholic Church.

The multi-asset fund will invest between 30% and 75% of its assets in public and private fixed income, it will be predominantly exposed to the European market, but can also invest up to 20% in emerging markets. A maximum of 10% of the fund’s AUM can be invested in other funds, but they have have to be consistent with Catholic ethics.

“Temperantia is intended for organizations and individuals whose Catholic sensibility is also reflected in their assets’ management,” Julius Baer said.

“This investment vehicle meets thus the requirements of a group of Julius Baer’s clients, offering on the one hand financial advice and, secondly, a financial vehicle transparent and efficient with helps them to channel those investments. Thus, [clients] obtain not only an economic return, but also a direct and measurable social impact,” the group said.
