New head for Martin Currie Nordic institutional business

Martin Currie, the independent investment affiliate of Legg Mason, has appointed Andreas Wallendahl as head of Nordic Business Development and Client Service.

Based in London, he will report to David Townsend, head of EMEA and Global Consultant Relations. The appointment is part of the manager’s plans to develop across the EMEA region. Martin Currie said that it has seen increasing institutional investor interest across Europe for its global, European and Asian equities capabilities, and the exposure it offers in emerging markets.

Wallendahl has some 25 years of experience working for a number of Nordic asset allocators. He joins from BNY Mellon, where he previously was managing director, head of the Nordic region.

Townsend added that the appointment came at a “key time in our international development”, with increasing interest in Martin Currie’s they key product areas that focus on high active share relative return, absolute return, and equity income strategies.
