NN IP launches euro green bond fund

Dutch asset manager NN Investment Partners (NN IP) has launched a fund investing in euro-denominated green bonds, the NN (L) Euro Green Bond fund.

The fund is a sub-fund of NN (L) Sicav, established in Luxembourg.

Bram Bos, lead portfolio manager and member of the UN PRI fixed income advisory committee, is to combine NN IP’s ESG and credit selection skills into the management of the fund.

“We anticipate strong growth in interest in green bonds from retail and institutional investors looking for ways to make a positive contribution to the environment,” he said.

“Investing in green bonds creates this type of opportunity with no additional costs. From this perspective, green bonds are an obvious choice for fixed-income investors.

“We consciously chose for a euro fund because the green bond market in Europe is more developed than in other regions. Moreover, the proximity enhances transparency and enables us to visit most issuers. Therefore we can better ensure clients that their investments are green,” Bos added.

NN IP’s AUM in sustainable strategies have reached €4.4bn at end 2015.

The manager’s global AUM amounted to €187bn as at 31 December 2015.
