Standard Life Investments has signed a “Global Collaboration Agreement” with Manulife to distribute the UK manager’s funds into Canada, the US and Asia – with an eye to more than treble SLI’s AUM distributed by Manulife within three years from the £3.3bn level recorded in the first half of 2014.

The deal will also firm up the business relationship between SLI and John Hancock, the US unit of Manulife.

Other changes set to take place include the elevation of SLI’s Boston office to become a hub for all North American business, and a new office in Toronto to serve SLI’s local institutional clients.

Keith Skeoch, CEO Standard Life Investments, said the deal would see SLI distribute Manulife’s funds into the UK retail market.

“The collaboration is a natural extension of our existing strategy where we have established a range of global strategic partnerships and relationships. We look forward to working with Manulife and delivering our key priorities: the continuity of investment performance and commitment to client service and relationship management.”
