Juan Antonio del Rivero joins Omega Capital
Juan Antonio del Rivero has been appointed president of Alpes 2000 Sociedad de Inversión Libre (SIL), an investment company controlled by Alicia Koplowitz’s Omega Capital.
Until last May, del Rivero was head of Spain and Portugal at Goldman Sachs, a position he held for many years.
He has more than 30 years of experience in investment banking in Spain and a wide network of contacts in the financial and manufacturing industries.
According to the business newspaper Cinco Dias, he was involved as the only adviser in the merger between Banco Santander and Banco Central Hispano in 1999, in the acquisition by Spanish oil company Repsol of the Argentine energy company YPF and in Banco Santander’s acquisition of Abbey National.
Omega Capital is a venture capital firm specializing in growth capital and emerging growth financing. It seeks to take minority stake but could also take majority stake of up to 100% of companies. It usually expects to sell off its holdings within five years from making the original investment. It was founded in 2000 and is based in Madrid.
