LGIM lands in Spain

British asset manager Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), the largest pension funds manager in the UK, has landed in Spain in a move towards its retail distribution plans across Europe, Funds People revealed.

The firm has named former indexed funds manager Pedro Santuy as head of business development for Iberia. Santuy joined Legal & General Investment Management in 2011 from BBVA AM where he was responsible for the management of ETF portfolios during five years. Formerly, he worked at Gesmadrid – now Bankia Fondos – as portfolio manager.

Legal & General Investment Management has 16 ETFs already registered in Spain. Four of them are equity ETFs, five thematic products, four fixed income and three commodity strategies.

Santuy will be responsible for promoting these products in Spain as well as for considering the inclusion of the whole range of the manager’s strategies for sale in Spain, both passive and active.
