March Gestión appoints European Equities fund manager

March Gestión de Fondos, the investment fund manager of Spain’s Banca March, has appointed Antonio Lopez Silvestre as equities fund manager responsible for the selection of Spanish and European companies.

Silvestre (pictured) will form part of the management team of March Gestión key funds: March Valores Iberian Equities, March Vini Catena and The Family Businesses Fund.

Prior to joining March Gestión, Antonio López worked at Exane BNP Paribas as Equity Research Analyst and Head of Spanish Midcaps. When at Exane, from 2010 to 2013, Anthony was recognized as “1st Position in European Utilities Earnings Estimator” and “1st Position in Iberian Utilities & Fuel Earnings Estimator” by Thomson Reuters – Starmine 2010. Prior to work at Exane, from 1999-2010, Antonio Lopez was Head of Research and Equity Research Analyst at Fortis Bank in Spain.

Antonio López’ track record and deep knowledge of equities and European and Spanish companies has played a key role in his selection as March Gestión is increasing seeking to promote its acknowledged expertise in Spanish equities to investors in the UK market.

March Gestión currently distributes its investment funds in Austria, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg and the UK.

The investment funds sold in the UK and Europe are its total return like fund ‘Torrenova’; it global wine industry fund Vini Catena, which has returned some 47.6% since launch in 2009; March Valores Iberian Equities, which in the last five years has achieved a return of 46.9% and The Family Businesses Fund – a global equities fund which invests in family companies and which has returned 32.4% since inception in 2012.
