State secretary to exit SIF

State Secretary Jörg Gasser will leave the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF) at the end of February 2019. After 10 years in the service of the Confederation, Gasser would like to pursue a new career path.

After the resignation of his predecessor, Jacques de Watteville due to his age, Gasser was appointed as the State Secretary for International Finance on 20 April 2016. Before this he had already been the Secretary General of the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) since 2011.

He played a very influential role in all important international financial, tax and monetary policy matters. He also made an important contribution to developments in the fintech and blockchain areas in terms of framework conditions and regulations.

The cultivation of bilateral relations and the intensification of cooperation with new and emerging markets (Asia, Middle East and Latin America) were among State Secretary Gasser’s most important tasks. Under his leadership, SIF also became an important institution for the promotion of the Swiss financial centre.
