Bo Lundgren quits early as DG of Swedish National Debt Office
Bo Lundgren, director general of Riksgälden, the Swedish National Debt Office, is to leave his job on 1 February 2013, some eight months before the end of his current contract.
Lundgren was supposed to have been in the role until 30 September 2013, but has cited the difficulty of maintaining a long weekly commute between his home in southern Sweden and the capital Stockholm.
Lundgren has headed the Debt Office for almost eight years, starting his job on 1 October 2004.
No replacement has been named by the Debt Office, which is responsible for the management and auctions of Sweden’s sovereign debt.
The country’s sovereign debt is about 30% of GDP, according to figures published in the Debt Office’s half year report in August.
Updated figures will be published on the morning of 7 September.
