Danish investors benefit from strong currency
Investors in Denmarks investment xxx gained from the weakening of the local currency recently, says the country’s xxx.
Returns from the US and Far East in particular were boosted by the currency changes, the Association [?] said.
Private and institutional investors have about DKK100m mia? bn? in US equities through the investment associations [?].
The dollar gained 3% in May, which gave investors a boost of about DKK3m ?bn? mia.
“Danes have a lot of investments in the US through the Danish investment associations [?]. A higher dollar meant that US equities were among the best investments in May,” said Jens Jorgen Holm Moller xxx of the Association.
Japanese equities also benefited Danish investors. However, European equity markets were unchanged, while the Danish bond market saw an increase in buyers and rising prices. The typical return through Danish bonds is over 1%.
The returns based on currency changes, coupled with increased levels of new investments saw the industry hit a new high as measured by assets under management, which hit DKK1.019bn mia? in May. This means AuM has doubled since 2004.
