Grexit danger almost gone, says Greek central bank governor
Georgios Provopoulos, governor of the Greek central bank, has been reported saying the danger of the country exiting the eurozone is almost gone.
“The danger of a Grexit is much reduced,” Provopoulos is quoted by Norwegian news agency NTB.
Meanwhile, although Greece has moved forward in its reforms, there is a lot left to do, Provopoulos (pictured) added.
“We have a list of objectives when it comes to privatisation, reforms of the retail and services sectors, better tax collection and so on.”
Accountants from the EU, the IMF and the ECB are set to travel to Greece later in February to evaluate the country’s changes so far. Their report will be crucial if Greece is to access another €2.8bn tranche of its bailout loan.
