Nordea staffer found guilty of theft in Sweden – sold customers’ shares

A former employee in Nordea’s Swedish asset management business has been found guilty of selling customer’s holdings in order to pay off her own monthly bills.

Swedish newswire TT reports that the woman was declared guilty by one of the country’s District Courts. She was accused of having transferred SEK684,000 (€80,000) for personal use after selling assets owned by customers.

Also found guilty was the woman’s husband. He had claimed that he did not know where the money came from, but was found guilty of handling stolen property.

The pair spent about SEK400,000 of the stolen money over a period of four months.

Both received a suspended sentence and were fined SEK26,600 (€3,200).
