Nordea’s EM fund hits $1bn AUM
Emerging Stars Equity Fund has hit $1bn in AUM. “Since inception the fund has accumulated outstanding absolute and relative returns while outperforming the MSCI Emerging Markets – Net Return Index in 11 out of 12 quarters,” the company said.
The Nordea 1 – Emerging Stars Equity Fund focuses on selecting companies that can originate a significant change in their economic profit over the medium to longer term profiting from combining a thorough fundamental financial analysis (structural growth opportunities, industry key success factors and valuation) with a robust Environmental, Social Responsibility and Governance (ESG) overlay. The result is a high conviction G@RP (growth at reasonable prices) portfolio with 40 to 60 “Emerging Stars”.
“The consistent pace of asset-gathering over the past months testifies that risk appetite has returned after a difficult start of the year and that investors are coming back to Emerging Markets’ (EM) as it is one of the few remaining markets that still combine attractive valuations and growth potential. With strong inflows from institutional, private-banking and retail clients across all our markets, the fund has attracted investors looking for a vehicle of choice to gain exposure to the next generation of leading EM companies – tomorrow winners.
“Our clients and industry specialists are recognizing Nordea’s Emerging Markets’ expertise and capabilities. The successful portfolio management team can count with the robust support given by the three EM specific regional analysts and the eight global super-sectors analysts. As lead Portfolio Manager, Jorry Rask Nøddekær, says that “what sets us apart from other managers and enhances our performance is the fact that we make a big effort to put a price on companies’ current but also future growth opportunities. And this is not less due to the support and input given by our regional and super-sector analysis,” Nordea’s statement added.
The disciplined investment process has been recognized by Morningstar, as the fund has been awarded with a 5-star rating (for the institutional share class).
