Pioneer Investments has appointed Morten Simonsen as head of Sales Nordic Region,  who will be working out of a dedicated branch office in Copenhagen, where he will be responsible for boosting the manager’s business across institutional and wholesale channels.

Simonsen will report to Michel Van Mazijk, head of Netherlands & Nordics.

Previously, Simonsen was head of Nordic Region at PineBridge Investments, and before that managing director Nordic head of Institutional Sales at Alfred Berg Asset Management in Copenhagen.

Fabien Madar, head of Western & Northern Europe at Pioneer, said: “This is a major step in our strategic development plan for our Nordic Business. The Nordic countries are very sophisticated and therefore we wanted someone like Morten who comes with strong local knowledge and relationships on both the institutional and the wholesale side to ensure we align the needs of our clients with our expertise. We have some excellent investment capabilities especially our strong fixed income proposition that we believe could be well suited for the Nordic markets. We are confident that with a dedicated branch office now in Denmark, we can offer a high quality service to our clients and Morten’s appointment can further increase our growing presence in the institutional market.”
