Skandia establishes portal to match clients’ staff with charitable work
Skandia has set up a portal that its corporate customers can use on behalf of their own staff who are seeking to volunteer for charities or other similar organisations.
Volontärportalen enables charities, foundations and other organisations to be matched with volunteers in different areas. Skandia said this could be anything from supporting young people, assisting the Red Cross with marketing, building web pages for charities and so on.
Skandia’s own foundation Idéer för livet currently assists some 300 projects annually, and the portal is expected to put these in touch with even more volunteers.
Skandia also works with Volontärbyrån, an organisation that has matched some 37,000 volunteers with some 1,600 charitable organisations across Sweden in the past decade. The portal is intended to give its work a boost too.
Lena Hök, head of Corporate Responsibility and Idéer för livet at Skandia said: “Each week we get questions from companies that want to get started with social responsibility. We know how worthwile volunteering can be for colleagues. Therefore we also want to offer our clients an opportunity to get started and contribute to society with their time and skills.”
According to Volontärbyrån’s annual survey, 49% of those questioned said they felt better by engaging in charitable work. Skandia’s own latest Novus survey of some 400 smaller company owners found that one in three said they engage in corporate social responsibility.
