S&P assigns ratings to SEB funds

Standard & Poor’s has given an ‘AA’ rating to the SEB True Market Neutral Portfolio fund and an ‘A’ rating to the SEB Listed Private Equity Fund.

The SEB True Market Neutral Portfolio is the first Nordic alternative fund to be rated by S&P Fund Services. It is a fund of hedge funds invested globally in equity market neutral strategies. Low volatility is a key objectives. The fund made annualised return of 4.4% over the past three years against volatility of 3.7%.

Mikael Spångberg, head of SEB’s Alternative Investment Team said: “Our experienced investment team, headed by Otto Francke, will continue its dedicated efforts of analyzing equity market neutral hedge funds to determine true alpha producers.”

The SEB Listed Private Equity fund invests in private equity while giving investors access to daily liquidity through its Ucits structure. Most holdings are listed private equity funds, although the mandate also allows investments in companies controlled by private equity firms and quoted management firms deriving large portions of their fee income from private equity business.

This fund also taps into SEB’s role as a significant private equity investor in its own right. The depth of SEB’s private equity resources is cited by S&P for its decision to award the ‘A’ rating.
