Sweden proposes TIEA with Liechtenstein
Sweden’s Ministry of Finance has put forward a proposal for a tax and information exchange agreement with Liechtenstein, to be considered by the country’s Parliament.
The Ministry says in a statement on the matter today that the TIEA would be “an important step in the government’s efforts to contribute to a global financial order based on transparency and effective exchange of information in matters of tax.”
The TIEA enables exchange of tax information and the opportunity for representatives of relevant authorities to be present during tax investigations. The Ministry adds that it therefore constitutes an important tool for effective fiscal controls.
No date has been fixed for the introduction of the TIEA.
